"One of the best Vegan Restaurants in Snowdonia

One of the best places to eat in the North West corner of Wales. Friendly staff and dog friendly too. The food is delicious whether you are Vegan or not. We been here a few times now and ever since lockdown, with their takeaways, the food has not disappointed. Their chips are the best I tasted. Califlower wings are just divine and highly recommended. As for their shepherdless pie, i really cannot find words to describe it. It's that good and tasty. I'd recommend you visit The Eating Gorilla after lockdown has ceased, you're in for a very tasty treat."

"Great food with a warm welcome

We visited on 26th August just as somewhere new to try while at our caravan. We went along and recieved a very warm and friendly welcome.
The food was well presented and so full of flavour.
Good value for money and well worth a visit in the area."

"Best vegan cafe we’ve found

Tried this cafe after seeing it reviewed on a YouTube channel! Absolutely delicious vegan food, probably the best we’ve ever had! Cauliflower wings were amazing. We also had homemade coleslaw, fries, “beef” burger and falafel flat bread and some yummy smoothies! Would recommend to anyone, vegan or not."

"First trip of many

I don’t do too many reviews but this place is wonderful!
We were seated promptly upon arrival. Service was friendly. The menu was not expansive but offered enough to whet the appetite (often times menus are too large anyway!)

My wife and I ordered BBQ Bao buns, spicy cauliflower wings and a side of chips to share. The food arrived really quickly and was piping hot. The chips were to die for and the main event did not disappoint- flavoursome and really nicely presented.
The place boasted a warm, friendly atmosphere and notably supports a cause too!
I would not hesitate recommending this place.
As a self confessed carnivore I was not disappointed."

"Tasty food whatever your preferences

We're not vegans but really wanted to give this restaurant a go, and it was catering very well for everyone; we wouldn't have known that the "milk"shakes and "beef" burger were vegan, and I had some tasty battered cauliflower florets which were a new experience."

"Two great meals.

We had two really good meals here during our holiday in the area. Staff were very welcoming and there was a great atmosphere both times. Food was really good and it was nice for us to be able to choose anything on the menu rather than look for the little v sign! The cakes were spectacular!"

"Amazing Restaurant

This restaurant is a real treat. The food is amazing, and staff friendly and welcoming. We went there on Monday, intrigued by the name, and absolutely loved it. Went again today (2 days later), on our last day in North Wales. The menu is not too extensive, but every dish we ordered was delicious! Wish we had a restaurant like this closer to home - I’d be a regular!"

"Nice vegan chocolate overload in Snowdonia.

I popped in to The Eating Gorilla to break up my journey home after a cold and blustery walk up Snowdon (typical Welsh summer mountain weather). Needed something sweet, so I chose a soya hot chocolate and a slice of choccy cheese (sheeze?) cake. Both were excellent and just what I needed to recharge the batteries before heading off home.

It was my second visit and, much like the first, it was full. It was reassuring to see the Cafe had Covid restrictions/procedures in place yet despite that, the service was prompt, friendly and stress-free.
I'm going to have a proper meal next time-the couple next to me had spicy cauliflower wings (I think) and a very impressive tall burger in a bun, held together with a wooden skewer. Looked lovely! Next time, I'll have the cheesecake for dessert...
All in all, a v positive experience and I highly recommend it!"

"Love this place!

Such a fantastic choice of food and drinks, super generous portions and lovely friendly staff.
Dog friendly - plenty of space around tables for bigger dogs to settle too 💚
Will definitely return again whenever I'm in the area."

"Surprise afternoon tea!

We are on holiday but were driving through and spotted The Eating Gorilla on the roadside.
We simply couldn’t pass up the chance to support a fully-vegan enterprise!
What a lovely afternoon tea we had - accompanied by wonderful homemade cake and scones.
Lovely staff and all COVID19 secure so no worries there.
Just wish we lived nearer so we could pop in more often!
Thank you for our ‘surprise’ afternoon tea.
🙏😊"

"Delicious vegan food at a reasonable price

Lots of amazing vegan dishes and cakes. We were spoilt for choice! We had a really good cooked breakfast which was great, but we nosed at the lunch menu and it looked really nice as well. Lots of imaginative dishes - no hummus or falafel in sight! Breakfast was £5/£6 & cakes were £2.50/75. Wish we had a place like this at home! There’s also a little shop to get your vegan essentials/cleaning products/incense etc."

"A chance find

We came across Eating Gorilla by chance when walking the Maentwrog Circular Route and dropped in for lunch the next day drawn by the amazing sounding menu. As regular visitors to North Wales we were more than a little surprised to find a vegan restaurant. The food more than lived up to expectations; the cauliflower wings in particular were amazing. Really friendly staff and very reasonably priced. We even bought the tee shirt."

"The most fabulous restaurant

We had their Chinese take away last night for our Valentine's dinner and oh my! It was delish. We had (vegan)chicken balls in sweet and sour, pancake rolls, hoisin (vegan)duck with pancakes etc and pepper chips. It was amazing. My husband remembers eating all these things for real, real chicken and duck and he said it tastes the same, but not so oily, not so gloopy. Like healthy Chinese. I don't remember meat, but I remember good food and this is good food. There was so much, we had it for lunch too. We also had the organic carrot cake. That was just fabulous Darling 😘💗. If you haven't tried this restaurant, whether you are vegan or not, try it. It will not disappoint"

"Gem of a place!

An excellent vegan cafe/restaurant. Lovely food, fantastic service, very friendly staff.
I had the lamb-less kebab special with homemade slaw and my other half had the homemade asparagus soup. Both tasted amazing.

To drink we had a turmeric chai latte and a Popeye's passion fresh juice. Again, both really lovely.
We'll definitely be visiting again soon. Would highly recommend!"
